Baby & Me Storytime

This storytime was presented at Bellevue Public Library on Tuesday, March 11 and Thursday, March 13, 2014.

Our activity this week was Scarves!
I enjoyed watching as adults and little ones found creative ways to play with our brightly-colored scarves.  
Every Child Ready to Read® recommends creative play because it provides opportunities for adults to use descriptive language with their little ones. During our play time on Tuesday and Thursday I heard many comments and conversations such as:
"Can you give me the pink one?"
"You have two scarves. Which one is green?  I have a purple one."
"Where did you go?!  Peek-a-boo!"
"Let's share some of our scarves with (child's name)."













  

Library News:
During the past couple of weeks we have welcomed these new friends: Amelia, Oakley, Ethan, Kamalani, Diann and Hyo Ju.  We are so glad you joined us and we hope to see you again very soon!

Our next Baby and Me Storytime will be March 18 & 20, 2014!

Baby & Me Storytime

Baby & Me Storytime

Presented at Bellevue Public Library on Tuesday, November 5 and Thursday, November 7, 2013.

Before we passed out our new "Brown Bear" board books I showed everyone my little sleeping bag:


 As I was showing them the sleeping bag, something started to pop out of the top!:



 Hmmm, it's brown and furry.  What could it be?:




It's a little brown bear!  I'm glad he woke up for Storytime!

Our activity this week was Scarves!


This is a new addition to our set of rotating activities which also includes jigsaw puzzles, musical instruments, bean bags, hand puppets and board books.  The adults and babies seemed to enjoy finding fun ways to play with scarves. I saw scarves used as capes, belts, skirts and hats. I saw them thrown up in the air and wadded up into a ball.  And, of course, we used them to play peek-a-boo! 
Every Child Ready to Read® recommends this type of play as a way to stimulate your baby's brain.  Watching scarves get tossed in the air, then seeing them float to the floor helps them start to understand how our world works (yes, they're learning about gravity!)

















 
Library News:
I'm a little behind on welcoming our newest members to Baby & Me Storytime, so here is a couple weeks' worth of new friends!: Rory, Parker, Warren, Samuel, Evelyn, Annabeth and Addysin.

Our next Baby and Me Storytime will be Tuesday, November 12 and Thursday, November 14, 2013!
