Baby & Me Storytime ~ April 8 & 10, 2014

This Baby & Me Storytime was presented at Bellevue Public Library on April 8 & 10, 2014.

Book:
Pat-a-Cake illustrated by Annie Kubler

Songs:

One Little, Two Little, Three Little Tootsies
(tune: "One Little, Two Little...")

One little, two little, three little tootsies,
Four little, five little,  six little tootsies,
Seven little, eight little, nine little tootsies,
Ten tootsies on my baby!

You can shake things up a little bit by changing the word "toes" to "fingers"!
You might also try singing:
"...three little kisses (or tickles, bounces or hugs) ...ten kisses for my baby!"

If You're Happy And You Know It

If you're happy and you know it,
Clap your hands!
If you're happy and you know it,
Clap your hands!
If you're happy and you know it,
Then your face will surely show it.
If you're happy and you know it,
Clap your hands!

What other actions or activities does your baby enjoy?  Try incorporating them into this song!
If you're happy and you know it...blow a kiss...tap your feet...rub your tummy...peek-a-boo!...give a hug...touch your nose...

Rhymes:

Elephant Goes Like This and That

Elephant goes like this and that
(mark the rhythm by clapping hands, patting knees, swaying, bouncing, etc.)
He's very, very big,
(raise hands above head)
And very, very fat!
(extend arms out wide)
He has big ears,
(touch ears)
He has big toes,
(touch toes)
And goodness gracious,
What a nose!
(touch nose)

'Round and 'Round the Garden

‘Round and’ round the garden
goes the little mouse.
(circle baby's tummy)
Up, up, up he creeps,
(walk fingers up arm)
Up into his house.
(tickle baby under arm)

‘Round and ‘round the garden
goes the teddy bear.
(circle baby's tummy)
One step, two steps,
(walk fingers up chest)
Tickle you under there!
(tickle baby under chin

Each Baby & Me Storytime includes activities that support one or more of the five early literacy practices identified as essential in helping your child develop the skills they need before they can learn to read. The five practices – singing, talking, reading, playing and writing –were developed for Every Child Ready to Read®, an initiative of the Association for Library Services for Children (ALSC) and the Public Library Association (PLA).
