Pajama Storytime

Presented at Bellevue Public Library on Tuesday, February 12, 2013.

It's Duffy Time! by Audrey and Don Wood

Time For a Hug by Phillis Gershator and Mim Green, illustrated by David Walker

A Nap in a Lap by Sarah Wilson, illustrated by Akemi Gutierrez

When the World is Ready for Bed by Gilliam Shields, illustrated by Anna Currey

K is for Kiss Good Night by Jill Sardegna, illustrated by Michael Hays

Tonight, in honor of Valentine's Day, we sang "Skinnamarink" and "You Are My Sunshine".

I encourage you to take some time at home to sing these, or other songs, with your child.  Here are the words, in case it's been awhile since you've sung these classics:

I love you!

I love you!

I love you in the morning and in the afternoon,
I love you in the evening and underneath the moon, oh

I love you!

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine.
You make me happy when skies are gray.
You'll never know, dear, how much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away!

Each Pajama Storytime includes activities that support one or more of the five early literacy practices identified as essential in helping your child develop the skills they need before they can learn to read. The five practices – singing, talking, reading, playing and writing – were developed for Every Child Ready to Read®, an initiative of the Association for Library Services for Children (ALSC) and the Public Library Association (PLA).

Our next Pajama Storytime will be on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 7 PM!

It was nice to see so many of you at Storytime tonight!

Sleep tight!
     ~Mrs. B.
