Book:
Pat-a-Cake by Annie Kubler
Songs:
Hello, Friends!
(tune: "Goodnight Ladies")
Hello friends.
Hello friends.
We're glad you came today!
(After singing the song I invite an adult to introduce him/herself and their child. We repeat the song, substituting the child's name for the word "friends". We do this until everyone has been introduced and all the children have been serenaded!)
They're a Part of Me
(tune: "The Wheels on the Bus")
I can make my hands go clap,
Clap, clap, clap, clap, clap, clap.
I can make my hands go clap.
They're a part of me!
My Little Baby
(tune: "Someone's in the Kitchen With Dinah")
My little baby is (baby's name),
Cutest little baby I kno-o-o-oh.
My little baby is (baby's name),
And I love you so!

Our hands say goodbye with a clap, clap, clap.
Our feet say goodbye with a tap, tap, tap.
Clap, clap, clap,
Tap, tap, tap.
We roll our hands around and say... "Let's do it again!"
Our hands say goodbye with a clap, clap, clap.
Clap, clap, clap,
Tap, tap, tap.
We roll our hands around and say... "Goodbye!"
Our ExploreTime Activity this week was Puppets!
Every Child Ready to Read® recommends introducing your baby to a variety of play activities, and puppets certainly fit the bill! If you don't have puppets at home for your little one to enjoy here are some ideas on how you can make them easily and inexpensively at home. Repetition is so important at this age, so don't feel you have to keep "reinventing the wheel" when playing with your little one. Your baby will enjoy seeing the same cow puppet time after time, and learning that the cow always says "Moo". When he's a toddler and you ask him if a cow says "Meow", you'll get the pleasure of seeing his face light up as he enthusiastically informs you: "Noooo, Mommy! A cow says Mooooooo!"
Library News:
On Tuesday we welcomed our new friend Eli to Storytime! We also celebrated with Chloe who is having a birthday next week! On Wednesday we welcomed Gabe who came for the first time this school year. We also enjoyed singing "Happy Birthday" to Katie, who is celebrating her 1st birthday today!!
Our next Baby and Me Storytime will be on Tuesday, March 12, 2013!
Reminder: Baby & Me Storytime will NOT be held next Wednesday, March 13, 2013. We hope you will join us that day for "Little Red Riding Hood", a puppet show presented by Brian Henning of the Urban Prairie Puppet Company. The show will start at 10:30 AM.
Each Baby & Me Storytime includes activities that support one or more of the five early literacy practices identified as essential in helping your child develop the skills they need before they can learn to read. The five practices – singing, talking, reading, playing and writing –were developed for Every Child Ready to Read®, an initiative of the Association for Library Services for Children (ALSC) and the Public Library Association (PLA).
